7. Zhitnoe peninsula
The peninsula Zhitnoe is in northern part of city of Ostashkov. Apartment houses here already are not present, but there is the big beach, a favourite place of summer holiday of the townspeople and visitors. The beach shallow to go up to deep water it is necessary meters 50. Closer to Кличену on a beach there are underwater holes, care here is already necessary. On peninsula is Житенный a monastery revived right at the beginning of 21 centuries. In days of the Soviet authority here was молокозавод. The complex of a monastery exists since 1737, the fencing with towers is erected in 1761. In northern part of peninsula, far away from human eyes, there is a communal grave of people establishing(installing) in Ostashkov the Soviet authority. This authority has honoured victims by that. That on a communal grave has established an obelisk devoted to heroes of war of 1812, earlier facing on the city area. Up to the middle of 19 centuries the peninsula was island, then it(he) has been connected by a dam to city.
